When the World Trade Centre was attacked the United States began its hunt for Osama Bin Laden. The search focussed on Afghanistan, so, one month after Nine Eleven cameraman Mike Dodd and I found ourselves in the trenches alongside Mujahadeen Guerillas and under their protection.
The Americans had not yet officially landed. These fighters for the Northern Alliance, which opposed Osama Bin Laden, took us to within fifty metres of the Taliban lines. Damage to buildings behind us was from mortar fire. We had to lower our voices. Note how young many of these fighters are. Life expectancy was not good.
