For a public broadcaster in a country of only four million, TVNZ has always punched well above its weight.
So in 2001 I landed one of the most coveted posts in New Zealand journalism: Europe correspondent for TVNZ's One News.
In that role I met everyone from the Queen to the Taliban. My territory extended from London to Afghanistan.
But it also took me across the Atlantic to the United States.
TVNZ also has a bureau in Sydney and New York.
